Balancing Leadership and Growth Mindset
Feedforward has taught me that leadership is not about perfection, it is about progress. Being open to feedback requires humility and vulnerability, qualities essential to both leadership and a growth mindset. As I grow as a leader, I must remain open-minded, willing to learn, and committed to continuous self-improvement.
What Feedforward Has Taught Me
Feedforward shifted my focus from “What did I do wrong?” to “What can I do better next time?” This approach reduces defensiveness and promotes actionable growth. It helps me welcome critique as an opportunity rather than a threat. As Goldsmith (2003) explains, feedforward emphasizes future-focused improvement rather than dwelling on past mistakes.
Applying Feedforward to My Leadership Style
Going forward, I will:
Invite suggestions proactively
Encourage my team to contribute solutions
Use future-oriented thinking
Apply reflection as a routine habit
Model openness to improvement
This strengthens trust, collaboration, and shared growth.
