My Story
My name is Jasmine Handsome, and I am passionate about helping students and organizations grow through innovation, creativity, and meaningful use of technology. My professional journey spans more than 12 years across business ownership, real estate, and education. I currently serve as a Third Grade Teacher, Team Lead, and Cheer Coach. Although I no longer teach AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), that experience was the catalyst for me returning to school and pursuing my dream of eventually opening a career institute. With AVID, I had the privilege of guiding students as they prepared for success in academics, careers, and life.
I believe learning should be authentic, engaging, and empowering. Technology is more than a tool, it’s a catalyst for transforming education by giving students voice and choice in their learning while preparing them to thrive in a digital world.
I am pursuing this program to deepen my knowledge of digital learning design, innovation, and leadership. My goal is to create student-centered, technology-rich learning experiences that promote equity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
Outside of my professional role, I find joy in quiet moments of prayer that ground me in the midst of a busy life. I also love to travel! You could say I have a bit of wanderlust! I strive to give my children rich experiences and exposure to the world beyond Dallas, Texas. Between sports, church, and family time, my life stays full, but it also keeps me balanced, inspired, and filled with love.
This ePortfolio documents my journey of exploring new ways to integrate technology into teaching and learning. It will serve as both a reflection space and a showcase of the innovative practices I am developing throughout this course.
Thank you for visiting. I look forward to sharing my learning journey with you!

My Learning Philosophy
I believe that learning is for everyone. Over the years, my students, especially those in special populations, have shown me what’s possible when belief, encouragement, and the right tools come together. With technology, I can clearly see their strengths and where they need extra support. By targeting those areas and honoring their learning styles, I’ve witnessed students achieve growth they never thought possible. This has shaped my core belief: anyone can learn when they are given the right support and a champion who refuses to give up on them.
For me, technology is more than just devices and apps, it’s a way to give students voice and choice in their learning. It allows me to meet them where they are, build their confidence, and help them see that mistakes are not setbacks, but steppingstones. I believe in creating learning environments that are authentic, engaging, and student-centered, where challenges spark growth and curiosity drives the journey.
Equity also guides everything I do. Every child deserves the chance to succeed, no matter their background or ability level. As a teacher, my role is to be a gladiator for my students, to stand in the gap, to fight for their success, and to make sure they leave my classroom knowing they are capable of more than they imagined.
In short, my philosophy is simple: with the right mix of belief, support, and innovation, every student has the ability to learn, grow, and thrive.
Learning Styles
My view
Student-Centered Focus
I believe that every student learns differently, and part of my role as an educator is to recognize those differences and adjust my approach. Some students thrive with visuals, others through hands-on practice, and still others by hearing and discussing ideas. When I take time to connect content with the way a student learns best, I see engagement rise and confidence grow.
Technology Connection
Technology has opened the door for me to better honor different learning styles. Whether it’s through interactive visuals, audio supports, or adaptive programs that personalize practice, I can offer multiple pathways for students to connect with content. This flexibility ensures that no student is left behind because the learning didn’t ‘fit’ their style.
Belief in Growth
Learning styles are more than preferences—they are invitations to meet students where they are. When I acknowledge how a student learns best and provide the right strategies, it shows them I believe in their ability to succeed. That belief, paired with tailored instruction, creates the confidence students need to grow.
